Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Moon and Tides (The Eternal Subject) by Matthew Benedict was auctioned at Phillips in New York in September 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 6,250.00 (€ 4,647.19). Admittedly, works by Matthew Benedict have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Mariner's Baptism in February 2011 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 29,447.91).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Moon and Tides (The Eternal Subject) von Matthew Benedict im September 2011 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 6.250,00 (€ 4.647,19) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matthew Benedict auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Mariner's Baptism im Februar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 29.447,91).
