Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled (Subjective) by Matt Mullican was auctioned at Phillips in London in December 2020, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 12,600.00 (€ 14,075.32). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Matt Mullican - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work without title, which sold at auction in September 2005 for USD 45,600.00 (€ 37,817.22).
