In July this year Christies in Paris held the auction First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online, which included the work Untitled (computer generated database light patterns) by Matt Mullican. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 6,930.00 (€ 8,085.21), 39% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Matt Mullican have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work without title in September 2005 with an auction result of USD 45,600.00 (€ 37,817.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 39 % übertroffen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Christies in Paris die Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (computer generated database light patterns) von Matt Mullican zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 6.930,00 (€ 8.085,21) und damit 39% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Matt Mullican auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit ohne Titel im September 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 45.600,00 (€ 37.817,22).
