Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (#70), 1991 by Mary Weatherford was sold in the Contemporary Art Online auction at Sothebys in New York in September 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,796.42) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mary Weatherford achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Coney Island in September last year with an auction result of USD 478,800.00 (€ 489,420.42).

Die Arbeit Untitled (#70), 1991 von Mary Weatherford wurde im September 2018 in der Auktion Contemporary Art Online bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.796,42) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mary Weatherford erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Coney Island im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 478.800,00 (€ 489.420,42).
