Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2002 a collector was able to acquire the work Unknown by Maruyama Okyo for EUR 298.75. This price was achieved in the auction CHINESE AND JAPANESE CERAMICS AND WORKS OF ART at Christies in Amsterdam and was even below the estimate range of EUR 500.00 – 800.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maruyama Okyo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Cranes in September 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,105,000.00 (€ 777,129.19).
