Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2014 Christies in London held the auction Asobi: Ingenious Creativity, Japanese Works of Art from Antiquity to Contemporary, which included the work Mt. Fuji, Seikenji, And Miho No Matsubara by Maruyama Okyo. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 62,500.00 (€ 79,803.47) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Maruyama Okyo have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Cranes in September 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,105,000.00 (€ 777,129.19).
