Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by Mark Rothko was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000,000.00 – 50,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,275,000.00 (€ 26,852,408.35) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mark Rothko - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work No. 10, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Mark Rothko kam im Oktober 2020 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000.000,00 – 50.000.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 31.275.000,00 (€ 26.852.408,35) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Mark Rothko mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit No. 10 beobachtet, die im Mai 2015 für USD 81.925.000,00 (€ 74.517.918,86) versteigert wurde.
