The work Untitled (Black On Maroon) by Mark Rothko was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The price achieved of USD 27,840,000.00 (€ 23,903,151.03) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 25,000,000.00 – 35,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mark Rothko - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work No. 10, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 81,925,000.00 (€ 74,517,918.86).
