Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2012 Christies in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Negro Man Climbing The Stairs To The Movie Theater, Belzoni, Miss., 1939 by Marion Post Wolcott. The price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 6,270.26) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Marion Post Wolcott - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Vegetable pickers, migrants, waiting after work to be paid, near Homestead, Florida, Feb 1939, which sold at auction in October 2021 for USD 21,420.00 (€ 18,542.24).
