Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Senza Titolo by Maria Lai was auctioned at Christies in Milan in May 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 4,375.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maria Lai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lenzuolo (Bed Sheet) in October 2018 with an auction result of GBP 150,000.00 (€ 169,153.72).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Senza Titolo von Maria Lai im Mai 2021 bei Christies in Mailand versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 4.375,00 den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maria Lai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lenzuolo (Bed Sheet) im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 150.000,00 (€ 169.153,72).
