In November 2020 Christies in Milan held the auction Thinking Italian Milan, which included the work Lettera ad un amico il giorno del suo compleanno by Maria Lai. The auction ended at the price of EUR 15,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maria Lai achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lenzuolo (Bed Sheet) in October 2018 with an auction result of GBP 150,000.00 (€ 169,153.72).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im November 2020 führte Christies in Mailand die Auktion Thinking Italian Milan durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lettera ad un amico il giorno del suo compleanno von Maria Lai zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 15.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maria Lai erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lenzuolo (Bed Sheet) im Oktober 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 150.000,00 (€ 169.153,72).
