Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Bonhams in London held the auction Modern & Contemporary African Art Online Sale, which included the work Mythical Beasts by Malangatana Ngwenya. The price achieved of GBP 1,147.50 (€ 1,319.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Malangatana Ngwenya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matalana in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,898.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2021 führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern & Contemporary African Art Online Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Mythical Beasts von Malangatana Ngwenya zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.147,50 (€ 1.319,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Malangatana Ngwenya erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Matalana im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.898,03).
