This artwork by Malangatana Ngwenya achieved an unexpectedly high price at Artcurial in Paris in November last year. In the African Contemporary Art auction, the work Sans Titre, 1989 sold for EUR 1,574.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Malangatana Ngwenya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matalana in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,898.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 97 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Malangatana Ngwenya erzielte im November letzten Jahres bei Artcurial in Paris einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion African Contemporary Art wurde die Arbeit Sans Titre, 1989 für EUR 1.574,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 800,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Malangatana Ngwenya erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Matalana im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.898,03).
