The work Sans Titre, 1991 by Malangatana Ngwenya was sold in the African Contemporary Art auction at Artcurial in Paris in November last year. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 1,181.00 48% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Malangatana Ngwenya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matalana in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,898.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 48 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Sans Titre, 1991 von Malangatana Ngwenya wurde im November letzten Jahres in der Auktion African Contemporary Art bei Artcurial in Paris versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von EUR 1.181,00 und damit 48% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Malangatana Ngwenya erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Matalana im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.898,03).
