Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Untitled (Selection For Sevilla) by Malangatana Ngwenya was sold in the Modern and Contemporary African Art auction at Sothebys in London in October 2019. Here, the upper estimate of GBP 8,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,424.42). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Malangatana Ngwenya - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Matalana, which sold at auction in October 2019 for GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,898.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Untitled (Selection For Sevilla) von Malangatana Ngwenya wurde im Oktober 2019 in der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von GBP 8.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.424,42) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Malangatana Ngwenya mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Matalana beobachtet, die im Oktober 2019 für GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.898,03) versteigert wurde.
