Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Malangatana Ngwenya could be acquired at Sothebys in London in March 2020 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Modern and Contemporary African Art Online auction, the work Os Olhos Do Guardiao changed hands for GBP 2,125.00 (€ 2,399.56) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Malangatana Ngwenya achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Matalana in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,898.03).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von Malangatana Ngwenya konnte im März 2020 bei Sothebys in London für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art Online wechselte die Arbeit Os Olhos Do Guardiao für GBP 2.125,00 (€ 2.399,56) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Malangatana Ngwenya erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Matalana im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.898,03).
