Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Modern and Contemporary African Art Online, which included the work Fome by Malangatana Ngwenya. The price achieved of GBP 5,625.00 (€ 6,351.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Admittedly, works by Malangatana Ngwenya have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Matalana in October 2019 with an auction result of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 31,898.03).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Modern and Contemporary African Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fome von Malangatana Ngwenya zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.625,00 (€ 6.351,78) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Malangatana Ngwenya auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Matalana im Oktober 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 27.500,00 (€ 31.898,03).
