Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Composition by Mainie Jellett was sold in the British & Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in December 2014. The price achieved of GBP 17,500.00 (€ 22,528.30) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mainie Jellett - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Pietà, which sold at auction in May last year for EUR 88,200.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Composition von Mainie Jellett wurde im Dezember 2014 in der Auktion British & Irish Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 17.500,00 (€ 22.528,30) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 15.000,00 – 20.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Mainie Jellett mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Pietà beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für EUR 88.200,00 versteigert wurde.
