Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2016 Sothebys in London held the auction Irish Art, which included the work Composition by Mainie Jellett. The price achieved of GBP 5,000.00 (€ 5,790.62) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mainie Jellett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pietà in May last year with an auction result of EUR 88,200.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2016 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Composition von Mainie Jellett zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 5.000,00 (€ 5.790,62) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mainie Jellett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pietà im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 88.200,00.
