Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2020 Sothebys in London held the auction Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit, which included the work Painting by Mainie Jellett. The price achieved of GBP 16,380.00 (€ 18,061.61) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Admittedly, works by Mainie Jellett have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Pietà in May last year with an auction result of EUR 88,200.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im September 2020 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Irish Art, including Property from the Collection of Sir MichaelSmurfit durch, in der auch die Arbeit Painting von Mainie Jellett zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 16.380,00 (€ 18.061,61) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mainie Jellett auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Pietà im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 88.200,00.
