Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Composition by Mainie Jellett was sold in the Irish Art auction at Sothebys in London in September 2017. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,250.00 (€ 3,687.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mainie Jellett achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Pietà in May last year with an auction result of EUR 88,200.00.
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Composition von Mainie Jellett wurde im September 2017 in der Auktion Irish Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.250,00 (€ 3.687,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mainie Jellett erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Pietà im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 88.200,00.
