Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Luigi Mayer achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in April 2012. In the Travel, Science and Natural History auction, the work Views In Palestine sold for GBP 3,500.00 (€ 4,292.65) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luigi Mayer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of the port and the city of Constantinople, from Leander's Tower in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 89,078.82).
