Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Luigi Mayer could be acquired at Christies in London in June 2011 for an unexpectedly low price. In the 19th Century European Art Including Orientalist Art auction, the work The Burial Chamber Of A Pyramid With Guardsmen changed hands for GBP 3,750.00 (€ 4,148.68) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luigi Mayer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of the port and the city of Constantinople, from Leander's Tower in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 89,078.82).
