Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work View of the canal of Constantinople, from the village of Terapia up to the mouth of the Black Sea by Luigi Mayer was auctioned at Christies in London in June 2010, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - GBP 15,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at GBP 46,850.00 (€ 56,973.96). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Luigi Mayer; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot View of the port and the city of Constantinople, from Leander's Tower sold at auction in June 2010 with the realized price of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 89,078.82).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit View of the canal of Constantinople, from the village of Terapia up to the mouth of the Black Sea von Luigi Mayer im Juni 2010 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches.
