Sold at the lower estimate price
In May 2008 Christies in London held the auction West ~ East - The Niall Hobhouse Collection, which included the work The tomb of Amyntas at Fethiye, Turkey by Luigi Mayer. The result of GBP 4,000.00 (€ 5,088.17) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luigi Mayer achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View of the port and the city of Constantinople, from Leander's Tower in June 2010 with an auction result of GBP 73,250.00 (€ 89,078.82).
