Sold at the upper estimate price
The work Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, wearing a black costume with a white collar and a black beret; and Portrait of his wife, half-length, wearing a black dress with a white lace collar, cuffs and a bonnet by Ludolf de Jongh was sold in the Old Masters & 19th century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism) auction at Christies in Amsterdam in June 2015. The auction ended at the price of EUR 15,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Ludolf de Jongh have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of a boy, full-length, in a gold-embroidered grey costume with a feathered hat and a cane, his hand on the head of a lurcher, with a garden seen through the door behind in December 2008 with an auction result of GBP 97,250.00 (€ 102,140.80).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Die Arbeit Portrait of a gentleman, half-length, wearing a black costume with a white collar and a black beret; and Portrait of his wife, half-length, wearing a black dress with a white lace collar, cuffs and a bonnet von Ludolf de Jongh wurde im Juni 2015 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th century Art - (including Dutch Impressionism) bei Christies in Amsterdam versteigert. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 15.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ludolf de Jongh auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of a boy, full-length, in a gold-embroidered grey costume with a feathered hat and a cane, his hand on the head of a lurcher, with a garden seen through the door behind im Dezember 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 97.250,00 (€ 102.140,80).
