Auction result well in line with expectations

The price achieved of GBP 23,040.00 (€ 26,541.20) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ludolf de Jongh - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of a boy, full-length, in a gold-embroidered grey costume with a feathered hat and a cane, his hand on the head of a lurcher, with a garden seen through the door behind, which sold at auction in December 2008 for GBP 97,250.00 (€ 102,140.80).
