In May this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Seal by Luc Tuymans. The »bidding war« ended at USD 457,200.00 (€ 429,134.60), 52% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Luc Tuymans have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Mrs. in February 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,482,500.00 (€ 1,899,640.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 52 % übertroffen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Seal von Luc Tuymans zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 457.200,00 (€ 429.134,60) und damit 52% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Luc Tuymans auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Mrs. im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.482.500,00 (€ 1.899.640,69).
