Signed and numbered 14/50 in black ink on the label affixed to the reverse of the frame (there were also 10 artist's proofs), published by Edition Schellmann, Munich and New York, contained in the artist's specified white painted wooden frame.

In January 2024 Phillips in London held the auction Evening & Day Editions, which included the work Altar by Luc Tuymans. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,540.00 (€ 4,251.09), 69% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Luc Tuymans achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Mrs. in February 2016 with an auction result of GBP 1,482,500.00 (€ 1,899,640.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 69 % übertroffen
Im Januar 2024 führte Phillips in London die Auktion Evening & Day Editions durch, in der auch die Arbeit Altar von Luc Tuymans zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.540,00 (€ 4.251,09) und damit 69% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Luc Tuymans erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Mrs. im Februar 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 1.482.500,00 (€ 1.899.640,69).
