Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Landscape Of Tiantai Shan by Liu Du was sold in the FINE CLASSICAL CHINESE PAINTINGS AND CALLIGRAPHY auction at Christies in Hong Kong in July 2003. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of HKD 400,000.00 – 500,000.00, the actual price achieved of HKD 418,250.00 (€ 43,557.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Liu Du - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Autumn Landscape, which sold at auction in November 2011 for HKD 1,220,000.00 (€ 116,713.00).
