Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Phaedra Hanged from the series The Hippolytos, 1969 by Leonard Baskin was auctioned at Bonhams in May this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 100.00 – 150.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 63.75 (€ 59.84). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Leonard Baskin achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Isaacangel in June 2000 with an auction result of USD 18,800.00 (€ 19,696.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Phaedra Hanged from the series The Hippolytos, 1969 von Leonard Baskin im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 100,00 – 150,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 63,75 (€ 59,84) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Leonard Baskin erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Isaacangel im Juni 2000 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 18.800,00 (€ 19.696,18).
