Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Christies in London held the auction Old Masters Day Sale, which included the work Portrait of a young nobleman of the Colonna family, possibly Giulio Cesare Colonna, Principe di Carbognano (1602-1681), full-length, in an embroidered jerkin and matching padded hose by Lavinia Fontana. The price achieved of GBP 50,000.00 (€ 55,792.32) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Lavinia Fontana have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of Bianca Degli Utili Maselli, Half Length, In An Interior, Holding A Dog And Surrounded By Six Of Her Children in January 2012 with an auction result of USD 602,500.00 (€ 461,579.71).

Im Juli 2017 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Masters Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of a young nobleman of the Colonna family, possibly Giulio Cesare Colonna, Principe di Carbognano (1602-1681), full-length, in an embroidered jerkin and matching padded hose von Lavinia Fontana zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 50.000,00 (€ 55.792,32) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben worden. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Lavinia Fontana auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait Of Bianca Degli Utili Maselli, Half Length, In An Interior, Holding A Dog And Surrounded By Six Of Her Children im Januar 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 602.500,00 (€ 461.579,71).
