Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Bianca Lucia Aliprandi, née Crivelli, three-quarter-length, in a black brocade dress, with a jewelled necklace and fur muff by Lavinia Fontana was sold in the Old Masters Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in December 2021. The price achieved of GBP 125,000.00 (€ 149,098.78) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Lavinia Fontana - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of Bianca Degli Utili Maselli, Half Length, In An Interior, Holding A Dog And Surrounded By Six Of Her Children, which sold at auction in January 2012 for USD 602,500.00 (€ 461,579.71).
