Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nat-Shango (Thunder) by Kerry James Marshall was sold in the 21st Century Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2021. The price achieved of USD 7,500,000.00 (€ 6,150,565.85) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 6,500,000.00 – 8,500,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Kerry James Marshall - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Past Times, which sold at auction in May 2018 for USD 21,114,500.00 (€ 18,092,973.44).
