Each a woodblock print, aizuri-e, and comprising:
- Umewaka, from the series Collection of Famous Places in Edo (Edo meisho zukushi), signed Keisai Eisen ga, censor's seal kiwame, published by Maruya Jinpachi (Enjudo), circa 1830
- The courtesan Asazuma of the Ogiya house (Ogiya uchi Asazuma) from the series Beauties from the Yoshiwara (Yoshiwara bijin), signed Keisai Eisen, censor's seal kiwame, published by Tsutaya Kichizo (Koeido), circa 1830
Each vertical oban:
The first: 37 x 25.6 cm. The second: 38.2 x 25.4 cm.

Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Keisai Eisen achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2021. In the Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection auction, the work Two aizuri-e woodblock prints sold for GBP 2,016.00 (€ 2,345.66) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,000.00. Admittedly, works by Keisai Eisen have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Courtesan in September 2004 with an auction result of USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,247.81).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Keisai Eisen erzielte im Mai 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Japanese Woodblock Prints | Including the Sokolov Collection wurde die Arbeit Two aizuri-e woodblock prints für GBP 2.016,00 (€ 2.345,66) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Keisai Eisen auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Courtesan im September 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 23.900,00 (€ 19.247,81).
