Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Itabashi no eki (Itabashi Station) by Keisai Eisen was auctioned at Christies in New York in September last year. The price achieved of USD 5,040.00 (€ 5,151.79) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Keisai Eisen - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Courtesan, which sold at auction in September 2004 for USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,247.81).
