A top price for Keisai Eisen - as previously expected
The work Courtesan by Keisai Eisen was auctioned at Christies in New York in September 2004. The price achieved of USD 23,900.00 (€ 19,247.81) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Courtesan is the most expensive artwork by Keisai Eisen that we have observed at auctions so far.
Ein Spitzenpreis mit Ansage
Die Arbeit Courtesan von Keisai Eisen kam im September 2004 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 23.900,00 (€ 19.247,81) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Auch wenn das Ergebnis damit nicht positiv überraschen konnte, ist Courtesan das teuerste Kunstwerk von Keisai Eisen, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
