Sold at the upper estimate price
In May 2008 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Asian Art, which included the work Unknown by Katsukawa Shunei. The auction ended at the price of EUR 1,000.00, which exactly corresponded to the upper end of the estimated price range of EUR 800.00 – 1,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Katsukawa Shunei achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Two Sumo Wrestlers in May 2019 with an auction result of GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,394.03).
Zuschlag beim oberen Schätzpreis
Im Mai 2008 führte Christies in Amsterdam die Auktion Asian Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Unknown von Katsukawa Shunei zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von EUR 1.000,00 entsprach exakt dem oberen Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von EUR 800,00 – 1.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Katsukawa Shunei erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Two Sumo Wrestlers im Mai 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.394,03).
