Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March last year Christies in New York held the auction Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg, which included the work The wrestler Kachozan by Katsukawa Shunei. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,930.00 (€ 6,247.18), 16% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Katsukawa Shunei - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Two Sumo Wrestlers , which sold at auction in May 2019 for GBP 16,250.00 (€ 18,394.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Japanese and Korean Art Including the Collection of David and Nayda Utterberg durch, in der auch die Arbeit The wrestler Kachozan von Katsukawa Shunei zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.930,00 (€ 6.247,18) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Katsukawa Shunei mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Two Sumo Wrestlers beobachtet, die im Mai 2019 für GBP 16.250,00 (€ 18.394,03) versteigert wurde.
