Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session, which included the work Hair by Karyn Lyons. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 40,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 30,480.00 (€ 28,608.97) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Karyn Lyons - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Pajama Party, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 94,500.00 (€ 88,062.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session durch, in der auch die Arbeit Hair von Karyn Lyons zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 40.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 30.480,00 (€ 28.608,97) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Karyn Lyons mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Pajama Party beobachtet, die im Mai letzten Jahres für USD 94.500,00 (€ 88.062,62) versteigert wurde.
