Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mrs. Merritt and Mrs. Crum (from the Hat Ladies series) by Julie Moos was auctioned at Phillips in New York in March 2013, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 4,375.00 (€ 3,413.70). Other works by Julie Moos have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in March 2012 by the work Mrs. Merritt and Mrs. Crum (from Hat Ladies series) at USD 7,500.00 (€ 5,624.72).
