This artwork by Julie Curtiss achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2020. In the Contemporary Art Day: An Online Auction auction, the work Carapace sold for USD 150,000.00 (€ 135,159.49) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Julie Curtiss - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Three Widows, which sold at auction in June 2021 for USD 466,200.00 (€ 393,484.13).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Julie Curtiss erzielte im Mai 2020 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day: An Online Auction wurde die Arbeit Carapace für USD 150.000,00 (€ 135.159,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Julie Curtiss mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Three Widows beobachtet, die im Juni 2021 für USD 466.200,00 (€ 393.484,13) versteigert wurde.
