In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part II, which included the work Marchande de fleurs à Londres by Jules Bastien-Lepage. The »bidding war« ended at USD 819,000.00 (€ 793,374.02), 64% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jules Bastien-Lepage - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait De Sarah Bernhardt, which sold at auction in October last year for USD 2,280,000.00 (€ 2,295,147.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 64 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part II durch, in der auch die Arbeit Marchande de fleurs à Londres von Jules Bastien-Lepage zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 819.000,00 (€ 793.374,02) und damit 64% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Jules Bastien-Lepage mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait De Sarah Bernhardt beobachtet, die im Oktober letzten Jahres für USD 2.280.000,00 (€ 2.295.147,98) versteigert wurde.
