woodcut, circa 1565, from fourteen blocks, on fourteen sheets, with woodcut title and letter-press text each printed on five sheets, extremely rare, the only recorded impression from the edition of 1666 published by Daniel Fievet in Frankfurt-am-Main, the impressions fairly evenly matched, numbering the blocks from 1 to 7 on the upper row and 8 to 14 on the lower then blocks 5, 8 and 9 with unobtrusive vertical cracking, blocks 6 and 7 printed on a slightly warmer brown paper, blocks 8 and 14 more drily printed, the whole laid on a large sheet of heavy blue/grey paper, with pin-holes at the lower sheet corners, with three short tears (without paper loss) at the left sheet edge, occasional minor creasing consistent with having been rolled, otherwise in a remarkable state of preservation

A top price for Jost Amman - as previously expected
The work Procession of the Doge in the Piazza San Marco, Venice (Andresen, Vol I, P. 65; B. 27; TIB. XX, 27; Holl. 244) by Jost Amman was sold in the Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints auction at Christies in London in December 2002. The price achieved of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 55,031.55) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Even if this result could not surprise positively, Procession of the Doge in the Piazza San Marco, Venice (Andresen, Vol I, P. 65; B. 27; TIB. XX, 27; Holl. 244) is the most expensive artwork by Jost Amman that we have observed at auctions so far.

Die Arbeit Procession of the Doge in the Piazza San Marco, Venice (Andresen, Vol I, P. 65; B. 27; TIB. XX, 27; Holl. XX, 27; Holl. 244) das teuerste Kunstwerk von Jost Amman, das wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachtet haben.
