This artwork by Jost Amman achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in January 2009. In the Old Master Drawings auction, the work Three Scenes From The Life Of The Prophet David sold for USD 55,000.00 (€ 42,955.33) - well above the upper estimate of USD 28,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Jost Amman; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Procession of the Doge in the Piazza San Marco, Venice (Andresen, Vol I, P. 65; B. 27; TIB. XX, 27; Holl. 244) sold at auction in December 2002 with the realized price of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 55,031.55).

Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Jost Amman; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Procession of the Doge in the Piazza San Marco, Venice (Andresen, Vol I, P. 65; B. 27; TIB.
