This artwork by Joseph Yoakum achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in January 2020. In the Outsider Art auction, the work Mt. Lizard Head in San Juan Mtn Range near Silverton Colorado, 1970 sold for USD 18,750.00 (€ 16,902.55) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joseph Yoakum; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Mt Nev De Samaja of Las Andes Mtn Range Near La Paz Bolovia South America, 1964 sold at auction in February last year with the realized price of USD 22,500.00 (€ 20,046.33).
