In December 2000 Christies in Los Angeles held the auction MODERN, POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART, which included the work Sunset by Joseph Raffael. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,275.00 (€ 16,270.77), 70% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Joseph Raffael; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Lily Shadow and Reflection sold at auction in July 2016 with the realized price of USD 32,500.00 (€ 29,101.00).

Im Dezember 2000 führte Christies in Los Angeles die Auktion MODERN, POST-WAR AND CONTEMPORARY ART durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sunset von Joseph Raffael zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.275,00 (€ 16.270,77) und damit 70% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Joseph Raffael; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Lily Shadow and Reflection im Juli 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 29.101,00).
