In November last year Christies in New York held the auction Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part I, which included the work The Lungernsee by Moonlight, Switzerland by Joseph Mallord William Turner. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,620,000.00 (€ 4,475,443.19), 32% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Joseph Mallord William Turner have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Rome, From Mount Aventine in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 30,322,500.00 (€ 39,035,113.21).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 32 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion Visionary: The Paul G. Allen Collection Part I durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Lungernsee by Moonlight, Switzerland von Joseph Mallord William Turner zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.620.000,00 (€ 4.475.443,19) und damit 32% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Joseph Mallord William Turner auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Rome, From Mount Aventine im Dezember 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 30.322.500,00 (€ 39.035.113,21).
