Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2024 a collector was able to acquire the work The River Aare at Thun, looking towards Lake Thun, with the Niesen and the Bernese Alps beyond by Joseph Mallord William Turner for USD 289,800.00 (€ 253,277.40). This price was achieved in the auction Old Masters at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 300,000.00 – 500,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Mallord William Turner achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Rome, From Mount Aventine in December 2014 with an auction result of GBP 30,322,500.00 (€ 39,035,113.21).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Januar 2024 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The River Aare at Thun, looking towards Lake Thun, with the Niesen and the Bernese Alps beyond von Joseph Mallord William Turner für USD 289.800,00 (€ 253.277,40) erwerben.
