Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Study for 'Trimming the Pie' by Joseph Christian Leyendecker was sold in the American Art Online auction at Christies in New York in November 2017. The price achieved of USD 15,000.00 (€ 12,607.16) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Joseph Christian Leyendecker achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Carousel Ride in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 516,100.00 (€ 421,995.09).

Die Arbeit Study for 'Trimming the Pie' von Joseph Christian Leyendecker wurde im November 2017 in der Auktion American Art Online bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 12.607,16) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Joseph Christian Leyendecker erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Carousel Ride im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 516.100,00 (€ 421.995,09).
